On Wednesday, September 25th, BoatU.S. attended the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee meeting on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation. The hearing featured testimonies from Vice Admiral Allan and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Jones. They highlighted the pressing issues facing the U.S. Coast Guard, including operational challenges and workforce shortages. However, there was cause for optimism as the Coast Guard announced it had met its recruiting goals for the first time since 2017, enlisting nearly 4,500 new members.
After the hearing, the BoatU.S. Government Affairs team joined Members of Congress in celebrating the Coast Guard's 234th birthday, marking a significant milestone for this vital service.
