One of the best tools to influence public policy available to the BoatU.S. Government Affairs Team are the BoatU.S. members themselves. Lawmakers want to hear from their own constituents when they are considering new laws and regulations. While boating issues are often not at the top of most lawmakers' priorities, hearing directly from boaters helps them to understand how a law will impact our favorite activity.

BoatU.S. uses a grassroots activation service to provide an easy way for boaters to speak up on issues. You can see an example here: Support the LAKES Act

We send out emails to alert members when there is a call to action. An email from BoatU.S. that starts with "Action Alert:" is your signal to write to your lawmakers. We also provide ways to use social media and phone calls if will help drive home our position.  

The BoatU.S. Government Affairs Team is On Watch for boaters, and we need boaters to be On Watch for our calls to action.
