Mental health is a critical priority for BBBS because we know that mentors can intervene when a young person experiences mental health challenges and these positive relationships can help youth better cope with depressive and anxiety symptoms to support their overall well-being.
To address the mental health crisis and assist youth in obtaining more positive mental health outcomes, Senators Durbin (D-IL) and Capito (R-WV) AND Representatives Davis (D-Il) and Gallagher (R-WI) have introduced the RISE from Trauma Act (S.1426 and H.R. 4541). The bill would help communities better respond to the mental health crisis by supporting programs that address high rates of trauma, violence, and addiction and increase resource capacity for communities to better respond and assist youth that have experienced, or may experience, trauma.
Please contact your members of Congress to urge them to support and co-sponsor the RISE for Trauma Act to ensure our nation's youth can get the mental health support they need.
