The Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education, and Support (CARES) Act represents a landmark in coordinated federal efforts to address the increasing prevalence of Autism. The Autism CARES Act authorizes critical research, surveillance, training and coordination to enhance the care and understanding of Autism and to support families.

The House passed a bill (HR 7213) to reauthorize and improve the law on September 18. The Senate must now pass the bill when they return from the election recess on November 12. 

The continuation and expansion of these programs is not just a matter of policy but a necessity for the countless individuals and families affected by Autism. Together, we can ensure a future where every person with Autism has the opportunity to lead a fulfilling and supported life.
