Learn how to maximize your impact on the legislative process and also other local matters such as school boards or at the county level by becoming an effective “citizen lobbyist.” The Arizona Free Enterprise Club team members will train you on how to work the process, understand and craft good policy, and navigate the complex political landscape. When you become a "citizen lobbyist” you will have the knowledge and skills to make a difference on the issues you care about most! Let’s advance freedom and conservative values together!
The 6 areas of focus are:
1. Learning the Process
Every successful lobbyist gains expertise in HOW the legislative process works. Learning how the game is played procedurally protects you from being conned and arms you with a bevy of strategic and tactical options.
2. Studying Policy
Every successful lobbyist studies WHAT their issues are. Choosing areas you have a passion for or can become an expert in making you a valuable resource to policymakers. Also, learn about organizations that do policy research and development that you can use as a resource for issues.
3. Understanding Politics
Every successful lobbyist understands WHO the players are in the political ecosystem. Being able to identify the “tribes” of politics and who belongs to them will empower you to organize, strategize and avoid political landmines.
4. Communication is Key
Every successful lobbyist practices their communication skills and discerns what to say and how to say it in the appropriate situation.
5. Mock Committee Hearing
See what it might be like if you were part of a committee hearing. Led by Representative Neal Carter.
6. Take Action Today
It is time to practice what you've learned and take action! Citizen lobbyist training will coalesce in opportunities to meet with lawmakers, get involved directly in the process, and start making a difference today!
