Subject: Support Prostate Cancer Screenings in Mississippi without Cost-sharing
Prostate cancer screening has played an important role in improving early detection and has contributed to saving more than 200,000 lives since 1990. Early detection can significantly improve outcomes, especially for individuals who are at higher risk of developing prostate cancer.
However, studies show that men are much less likely to undergo screening when out-of-pocket costs are required. Even relatively modest expenses can create financial barriers that prevent individuals from accessing needed preventive services.

In Mississippi, discussions have highlighted the potential impact of reducing or removing out-of-pocket costs for prostate cancer screening and follow-up testing. One proposal under consideration, SB 2120, examines strategies that could help ensure high-risk individuals have improved access to screening at little or no personal cost.
Increasing awareness of prostate cancer risk factors, the importance of early detection, and the role of financial accessibility can help support better health outcomes across the state.
Thank you for your continued commitment to supporting the health and well-being of those in Mississippi.
