The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently finalized the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) that cuts physician Medicare payments by 2.83 percent. Compounded with CMS’ estimate of a 3.6 percent increase in practice cost expenses for next year, physicians will be faced with a 6.4 percent loss, unless Congress acts.
If Congress fails to act, this cut will mark the fifth consecutive year that CMS has slashed physician payments within the MPFS. When adjusted for inflation, Medicare payment rates to physicians have fallen 29 percent over the last two decades.
Enough is enough – contact your member of Congress and urge them to co-sponsor the Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act (H.R. 10073), which would eliminate the 2.83 percent cut and provide partial relief for inflationary cost increases. Please include real world examples of how this cut would affect your ability to serve patients. Your personal story will have the most impact on your member of Congress.
