Working for R.T.s in Nebraska Since 1987The Nebraska Society of Radiologic Technologists has been the voice of the radiologic technology profession in Nebraska since 1931. On May 29, 1987, then Governor Kay Orr signed LB 390 that amended the Radiation Control Act to include the requirement of individuals who perform medical radiography to be licensed. Subsequently, regulations were created for persons performing medical radiography and the NSRT has continued to evolve. The society has encouraged members to become legislative liaisons and advocates for all radiologic technologists in Nebraska. The Society currently employs a lobbyist to help track bills that would impact R.T.s. Members of the NSRT legislative committee are active participants in the regulatory process and serve on the Department of Health and Human Services Medical Radiography Board and participate in review boards for other health care professions. The state provides licenses for those who perform radiography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, fusion imaging and limited scope procedures. The NSRT actively works against encroachment from other allied health care providers into these modalities.
