X-ray Machine Operator and Technologists Regulations

The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment X-ray Machine Operators and Technologists website may be utilized to find regulations and applications pertaining to radiologic technologists.

Regulations were amended in Part 6, “X-ray Imaging in the Healing Arts” in 2019 and declare registration with the department is not required for an individual who holds a current, valid national registry in radiography, nuclear medicine technology, radiation therapy, computed tomography or mammography as issued by the ARRT or NMTCB (with specialty certification in computed tomography) or other nationally recognized registry specifically accepted by the department. Section of the regulations regarding fluoroscopy operators was amended to include radiology practitioner assistants  and to require at least twelve hours of continuing education every two years.

The Colorado Radiation Advisory Committee provides information on meetings and stakeholder processes.
