AKSRT Continues Work on Licensure The Alaska Society of Radiologic Technologists works to ensure the highest standards of care for patients. We are proud to be the only professional organization for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals in the state. In collaboration with various stakeholders, the AKSRT has been working on improving standards through legislative and regulatory activity for many years, and the endeavors continue. Currently, the AKSRT is drafting a bill that is expected to be introduced in 2023. The AKSRT’s legislative committee reports the Alaska State Legislature House of Representatives is in a leadership deadlock and it appears the issue is not close to being resolved. The AKSRT has been advised that without a majority party determination it would be best to hold off on legislative efforts until January 2023. In the meantime, work continues with the state's Legal Services Department to get the revised legislation in a final draft format so it will be ready to present to possible sponsors when the time is right. After the final draft is released from Legal Services the AKSRT will schedule meetings with the groups affected by the legislation to inform them about any changes to the draft bill and to address any concerns and questions they might have.
