Ask Congress to Improve Patient Access to Hearing Devices And Systems

Tell Congress to ensure that private insurance companies provide coverage of certain hearing devices and systems, such as bone anchored hearing aids (BAHAs) and cochlear implants (CI), for children and adults. Osseointegrated devices (OIDs) and cochlear implants can be life-changing and are often necessary to restore hearing for individuals with certain medical conditions.

These devices are consistently denied coverage by private insurers even though they are medically necessary and address unique corrective requirements specific to certain types of hearing loss. Ally’s Act (H.R. 2439/S. 1135) would require coverage of these devices and related services including: implantation surgery, upgrade replacement every five years, and post-operative audiological appointments for fittings, programming and activation, and aural rehabilitation as deemed clinically appropriate by an audiologist.

Please complete the form to email your members of Congress and ask them to improve access to these critical and life-altering devices, and associated audiologic health care services.
