The Minnesota Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers announced the 2026 Report Card for Minnesota’s Infrastructure today, assigning 11 categories of infrastructure a cumulative grade of ‘C’ — the same grade the state received in its 2022 report and matches the national grade of ‘C’ in the 2025 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure. While the overall grade is unchanged, there are signs of progress thanks in part to recent state and federal programs that have provided much-needed funds to repair and improve infrastructure systems across Minnesota. However, recent investments only cover a fraction of Minnesota’s infrastructure needs caused by decades of underinvestment and deferred maintenance.
Led by a team of civil engineers statewide, Minnesota’s bridges, energy, ports and transit grades all improved compared to their 2022 marks, while the state’s aviation grade decreased. The 2026 grades are:
| Grade | Categories |
| B- | Aviation, Public Parks |
| C+ | Bridges, Energy |
| C | Dams, Ports, Stormwater, Transit, Wastewater |
| C- | Drinking Water |
| D+ | Roads |
The 2026 Report Card for Minnesota’s Infrastructure provides insight needed to start conversations and ignite action to improve the 2026 grades and, as a result, the state’s future by:
