Tell Congress to Pass the Small Business Comeback Act
Representatives Filemon Vela (D-TX-34) and Lance Gooden (R-TX-05) recently introduced H.R. 7671, the Small Business Comeback Act, to help save American businesses as they are once again being asked to close their doors to help slow the spread of COVID-19. America’s Recovery Fund Coalition (ARFC) was vital in advocating for this legislation and obtaining bill sponsors. As the only organization of ARFC representing oral health care, the AGD applauds the introduction of the Small Business Comeback Act and is calling on all AGD members to take action!
The AGD joined the ARFC to advocate for an alternative and more flexible federal funding mechanism, while recognizing that funding programs like PPP and EIDL loans were not suitable for all AGD members. H.R. 7671 will establish a Small Business Recovery Fund so America’s businesses can retain and rehire staff, pay rent, adapt to new regulations and requirements, and pay their state and local taxes – in turn, getting our country back up and running.
Additionally, the Recovery Fund would prioritize small businesses, businesses that have experienced a significant level of impairment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses that operate in a rural or low-to-moderate income community, and women-owned and minority-owned businesses.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began over 49 million unemployment claims have been filed and over 100,000 small businesses have closed for good. Congress needs to act now, and they need to act boldly to ensure the economic fallout from COVID-19 is minimized!
Please help the AGD and ARFC support this legislation by sending a message to your members of Congress and asking them to vote for the Small Business Comeback Act and save the American economy before it’s too late.
