The AGD is contacting you to ask for your help in generating support for legislation to permanently repeal the medical device excise tax.
The tax is imposed on manufacturer revenues, not profits, which can have a significant impact on costs that are then passed down to your dental practice and patients. Since its creation in 2011, the implementation of the medical device tax has been delayed by Congress through legislation. Unfortunately, this tax is set to go into effect at the end of this year if Congress does not act.
Bipartisan legislation, the Protect Medical Innovation Act (S.692/H.R.2207), has been introduced in both the House and Senate to repeal the 2.3% tax on medical devices permanently.
Your members of Congress are in key positions to influence what is included in end-of-year legislation dealing with tax policy. Hearing from a constituent who is a health care provider like you can go a long way towards getting them to support legislative language to repeal the medical device tax.
