Take Action NOW Tell Congress to Extend Funding for CHIP
Federal funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) expires Sept. 30, leaving nearly nine million CHIP-enrolled children at risk of losing access to medical and dental coverage. To ensure the delivery of critical medical and oral health services provided under CHIP continues uninterrupted, the AGD urges you to tell your members of Congress to extend funding at current levels without delay.
CHIP provides comprehensive coverage, including dental, for children from families who do not qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford private insurance. In 2016, more than one in eight children in the U.S., or 8.9 million, were covered by CHIP. An evaluation of the program issued earlier this year found that compared to their uninsured peers, children covered by CHIP were: "more likely to have a usual source of care, including dental care; more likely to have preventative doctor and dentist visits, and less likely to report unmet medical and dental care needs."
Delaying an extension to this critical program would be devastating to the millions of at-risk children in need of affordable oral health services. With just a few clicks, you can tell Congress to act now to extend funding for this critical program.
Don't delay - take action to protect CHIP dental coverage for kids now!
