What is Title X?
Purpose: Title X, established in 1970, is the only federal program dedicated to family planning, providing affordable birth control and reproductive health care to people with low incomes who cannot otherwise afford these services.
Services: Title X services include family planning and provision of contraception, education and counseling, breast and pelvic exams, breast and cervical cancer screening, screenings and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and referrals to other health care resources.
Funding:Title X is funded through federal grants, and it has been a source of funding for health centers for family planning aid and reproductive health care, including birth control and other non-abortion services.
