Contact Congress and Demand Critical Title X Funding be Reinstated
ACNM urges members to contact federal policymakers and demand dissemination of the $35 million in critical Title X funding being withheld from recipients by the Trump Administration. The impact of this funding freeze is immediate and devastating. Grantees are unable to purchase critical supplies, leaving patients without essential services. The forced pause in care jeopardizes public health, further marginalizes historically underserved communities, and places an unfair burden on midwifery-led care models that are already operating with limited resources. This funding freeze impacts the lives and well-being of millions of families across the United States and is a blatant attack on public health.

We have provided a template letter that can be edited to reflect your personal experience and/or opinion in support of the Title X program.

What is Title X?

Purpose: Title X, established in 1970, is the only federal program dedicated to family planning, providing affordable birth control and reproductive health care to people with low incomes who cannot otherwise afford these services.

Services: Title X services include family planning and provision of contraception, education and counseling, breast and pelvic exams, breast and cervical cancer screening, screenings and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and referrals to other health care resources.

Funding:Title X is funded through federal grants, and it has been a source of funding for health centers for family planning aid and reproductive health care, including birth control and other non-abortion services.
