Budget amendments HB1600-288#15s (Ward) and SB800-288#25h (Boysko) are designed to fix this inequity by requiring the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) to reimburse LCMs and LMs at 100% of the Medicaid fee schedule—equal to the rates CNMs receive.
With more than half of midwifery patients in Virginia relying on Medicaid for their maternity care, this change is urgent. Reimbursement parity will ensure midwives can continue to provide care to families across the Commonwealth, especially in underserved communities where access to maternity care is already limited.
Your legislators need to hear from you! Use the message template below to contact your representatives today and urge them to vote YES on these critical amendments. Together, we can advance maternal health equity and ensure all families have access to the care they deserve.
Thank you for your advocacy and dedication to improving healthcare for all Virginians.
