Today, we need YOU to stand up for our community and demand that our elected officials act now to stop the surge in hunger facing Alameda County. 

The California State Legislature is drafting our next State Budget, which will have an enormous impact on hunger-relief efforts, and we need your voice to be heard.  

In partnership with Food Banks across California, we’re urging our state legislators to fund critical programs including:   

• $60 million annually for food banks to purchase healthy food
• Increasing how much Californians receive in CalFresh EBT benefits
• Continued funding for universal school meals
• And expanding hunger-relief benefits to all Californians regardless of their age or immigration status

As I write to you today, 1 in 4 Alameda County residents is experiencing some level of food insecurity. As many pandemic protections come to an end, we must acknowledge that hunger is still an emergency. This is why tireless advocacy to demand government accountability is core to our mission.
