In July, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Calendar Year (CY) 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) proposed rule, which includes a 2.8% reduction to the MPFS conversion factor (CF).  In 2025, this cut would coincide with an expected 3.6% increase in medical practice cost inflation, as measured by the Medicare Economic Index (MEI).

Reductions to the CF impact every single clinician providing care to Medicare beneficiaries. Payment reductions and the potential for additional Medicare cuts can result in medical practices and integrated systems of care to eliminate services, including implementing hiring freezes, delaying system improvements and the transition to new value-based care systems.

This unsustainable trend cannot continue. Please contact your members of Congress today and urge them to take immediate action to cancel the cut.
